Hi everyone! My name is Charmaine and I am Companion Animal Hospital River North’s staff trainer who is well versed in behavior and training. I have been working with dogs since 2001, and am CPDT-KA Certified Professional trainer knowledge assessed, KPA-CTP Karen Pryor certified training partner, and a Fear Free Certified Animal Trainer. I take my education seriously and there is always so much to learn! I am constantly attending workshops and seminars to increase my knowledge and what I can offer to my clients.

My training is based on positive reinforcement and is founded in setting up the dog to succeed in the environment.  One of the most important things I teach is how to read canine body language – it is incredibly fascinating and very important for their owners to learn!

Every Wednesday,  I will be helping clients at Companion River North with training questions and will also be addressing behavior concerns. You may also see me in appointments helping nervous pets, or assisting in the daycare program at Companion River North.

My love for dogs and animals extends outside of my professional life – my husband and I have fostered over 60 dogs, and we currently have 2 adopted chihuahuas, a beta fish, and a rose haired tarantula! I also have a passion for Monarch butterflies, and I love tagging during migration for Monarch Watch. I look forward to meeting and working with you and your furry family members!
